Band was from Halifax from 1969-72. In spite of their Zappa derived Uncle Meats moniker and the blues connotation, they were not really a full on blues band and more of a power trio. Think Cream, Mountain, JH Experience, Grand Funk, etc. |
Although they certainly could and did dabble in the blues genre. Having said that, perhaps one of their most memorable performances was the Nov 1970 Neptune Theatre presentation of 'Anthology of the Blues'. The played two long sets and took the audience on a walk back in time of where the blues came from to where it was heading. By all accounts a fascinating set of music for anyone who had an appetite for great live music that paid homage to the blues greats. This should have filmed and recorded, of course, sadly it was not. |
Uncle Meats were also on the EC roster circa 1970-71 and played on a lot of package or battle of the band style shows with other EC acts like Universal Power, Mathew Hill, GT & the Hurricanes, Turnpike, Melody Fair, Maan, Juckatar and others. |
