Repertoire was solidly R & B and leaned on the Stax/Atlantic sounds of Otis Redding, Sam and Dave, Wilson Pickett et. al. With the horn section, it was possible to play some of the heavily produced tunes of the time, such as In My Midnight Confession by the Grassroots, for example. The band played non-horn tunes by the BeeGees (those early ballads) and even tunes by Steppenwolf. However, the lack of a Hammond Organ, the keyboard ax of choice in those days, limited the band’s ability to replicate Steppenwolf, Santana and even some of the R & B that was the band’s real strength. The band played most often at New Glasgow High School (often on Friday nights), Stellarton, and very often at the parish center in Antigonish (on Saturday nights). Trips to Cape Breton were undertaken too. |
