Formed in 1970 in Sydney Mines, Cape Breton. Band name was taken from the military emplacement where the guys had hung out as teenagers. Played church halls and schools until new liquor regulations, which allowed women in, made bars suitable for bands and dancing. Played throughout the Maritimes and spent most of 1975 playing in Quebec hotels, backing a singer from New Zealand. Lotsa horns! Opened for Crowbar, Dr. Music among others in Sydney - early 70's . Ian, Ross and Colonel joined Sam Moon Band in 1976. When Sam went solo in 1980, the group continued as The Battery.
